Within China Post we can find two services, China Post Mail (economic) and EMS (express service).
China Post Mail: types of shipments and how long they take
China Small Post’s Small Parcel service is the best option for orders smaller than 2 kg, which are the most common. This is the most economical choice, especially for international shipments.
China Post works with three transport possibilities within its mail services:
*China Post Registered Air Mail: is the fastest option, it is used for packages up to 2 kg and has tracking code. It usually takes 7 to 15 business days.
*China Post Ordinary Small Packet Plus: is the cheapest option, is used for small envelopes of 50 to 300 grams, usually has tracking code.
*SAL (Surface Air Lifted): combines maritime, air and land transport. It usually takes 15 to 20 business days. It is cheaper than air travel.
*SURFACE: focuses on shipping. It is a cheap, but it takes between 40 and 70 days.
China Post Air Parcel and Air Mail: used for boxes or packages up to 2 kg.
The tracking numbers for these types of packages usually begin with the letter R, P or V and end with CN.
EMS (Express Mail Service) is an international express mail service that in China is operated through China Post Company.
The maximum weight of a package sent by EMS varies between 20 and 40 kg depending on the destination.
EMS is much faster than regular mail because it takes only 7 days to reach your destination. However, it is much more expensive.
The EMS China tracking numbers start with E and end with CN.
Other shipping options
China Post is not the only Chinese post office. Other international companies such as TNT, DHL, UPS or Federal Express also offer their services. However, this remains the most economical option, albeit the slowest one.

Understanding tracking
